An air sign of fixed quality, Aquarius represents originality, innovation, friendship and social awareness. Its traditional ruler is Saturn, its modern ruler Uranus. Independence and thinking differently stand out; closeness is seen as an area for growth.
General traits
Aquarius is the fixed air sign in the middle of winter. Its traditional ruler is Saturn and its modern ruler Uranus; together they give Aquarius both structure and principle and the themes of originality, innovation and sudden change. The water-bearer of its symbol is a person who shares knowledge and goodness with the community.
People with strong Aquarius energy are usually independent, original, progressive and humanitarian. They think outside the box and are drawn to new ideas and technologies. Friendship, community and shared ideals matter to them, and they want to treat everyone equally and fairly. They may approach their feelings with logic and distance. Traditional readings describe the growth areas of Aquarius as building closeness, sharing feelings and staying flexible in their views.

Aquarius in love
In love Aquarius first looks for friendship and mental connection. It prefers a partner who respects its freedom, has a world of their own and shares ideas. Possessive and restrictive behaviour can drive it away. Traditional readings name emotional distance and avoiding closeness as points to watch.
Aquarius at work
Aquarius succeeds in fields involving innovation, technology and social benefit: software, science, engineering, social entrepreneurship, civil society, astrology, media and research. Environments where it can produce ideas freely and hierarchy is not rigid motivate it. With money it is open to unusual opportunities.
Health
In traditional astrology Aquarius is linked with the calves, ankles and circulation. Regular movement and mental rest are recommended. This is a traditional association, not medical information.
