A fire sign of mutable quality, Sagittarius represents optimism, freedom, exploration and the search for meaning. Its ruler is Jupiter. Travel, learning and belief stand out; care for detail is seen as an area for growth.
General traits
Sagittarius is the last sign of autumn and a mutable fire sign. Its ruler Jupiter is associated with expansion, faith, wisdom, long journeys and luck, so traditional astrology sees Sagittarius as the sign of the search for meaning, exploration and philosophy. The archer of its symbol is a person aiming at distant targets.
People with strong Sagittarius energy are usually optimistic, cheerful, free-spirited and adventurous. They want to discover, learn and teach about other cultures, ideas and beliefs. They are honest and outspoken, sometimes saying what they think a little too bluntly. They look at life through a wide window and dislike being restricted. Traditional readings describe the growth areas of Sagittarius as care for detail, thinking before speaking and keeping promises.

Sagittarius at work
Sagittarius succeeds in fields involving knowledge, travel and expansion: academia, teaching, publishing, tourism, law, foreign trade, sports, religion and philosophy. Work where it can move freely and see the big picture motivates it. With money it is generous and open to risk; it is advised to be careful about saving.
Health
In traditional astrology Sagittarius is linked with the hips, thighs and liver. Avoiding excess and moving in the open air are recommended. This is a traditional association, not medical information.
